Chairperson Parmar is currently serving his second term as Trustee. He has chaired the Education Standing Committee and has been in the role of Chair since June, 2017. Ravi is a graduate of SD62 and is passionate about being a strong representative for our community.

Dianna Seaton

Dianna Seaton

First elected in 2005, this is Dianna’s fifth term as Trustee. She has served on the Aboriginal Education Council, The Education Committee, Provincial Council Alternate, Victoria Family Court and Youth Justice Committee, and Westshore College Action Committee. With long family ties to SD62, Dianna became interested in the importance of literacy and the link to successful outcomes for students when she served on the Greater Victoria Library Board. She was then elected to the British Columbia Public Library Board. Her experience and knowledge as a Library Trustee and her connection in the community made her a great fit for SD62. Her Great Grandfather was a School Trustee representing Otter Point and her Grandchildren are the fourth generations of family to be educated in SD62.

Bob Beckett

Bob Beckett, Vice Chair

Bob is currently serving his first term as Trustee and was recently elected to serve as Vice Chair of the Board. He is married with three children and retired in June of 2017 as Langford Fire Chief after 41 years in the fire service. He is a graduate of Royal Roads University and past Board Chair of the YMCA – YWCA of Vancouver Island. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Westshore and enjoys working on International Aid-programs. Bob loves to spend time with his family on his boat in Bamfield and walking his Mountain Bernese dog. His SD62 focus is ensuring that every child’s (student) experience in their school is a positive one.

Wendy Hobbs

Wendy Hobbs

Wendy is married, a proud parent of three and is a grandmother. She currently works as an Insurance Advisor.

She served as the VISTA (Vancouver Island School Trustees Association) President and Vice President for two years each and has been on many community boards and advisory committees including West Shore Parks and Recreation, Langford's Planning and Zoning and West Shore Chamber of Commerce. Wendy believes providing diverse programming in the arts, music, physical activities and academics is vital to providing education to students.

Wendy looks forward to hearing from individuals and stakeholders, as the decisions made by the Board will continue to make SD62 the best place to learn and work in.

Margot Swinburnson

成人抖音First elected in 1999, this is Margot’s seventh term as Trustee. She has served as SD62 Board Chair and is a long-time advocate for youth opportunities, trades programs, Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, Aboriginal Education opportunities and Academies programs. A semi-retired nurse/case manager, she uses her nursing and education background to improve access and support for youth and staff mental health and wellness. She has been a member of the BC School Centered Mental Health Coalition since 2012, and is appointed as a member of the BC School Trustees Association Working Group on youth mental health and Wellness. Margot has long ties to SD62 schools in the Sooke region and is excited about the opportunities the next four years will bring. As a growing District we have constant change and growth pressure, but such opportunity to support and sustain the excellent practice and programs that we have.

This is Bob’s seventh term as Trustee. He has previously served as Board Chair and Vice Chair, Chair of the Aboriginal Education Committee as well as sat on committees for Sustainable French Immersion, Personnel, Principal and Vice Principal Bargaining and Exempt Staff Bargaining. Bob is passionate about research and policy such as French Immersion, Superintendent evaluation and Trustee compensation. A retired teacher and social worker, Bob believes free accessible public education is the foundation of democratic government and the best vehicle to help children realize their passions and their potentials.

Allison Watson

Allison Watson

This is Allison’s first term as Trustee. She is a mother to two young children who are approaching school age in the Sooke community. She has 20 years of experience working as an employment educator, job developer and curriculum designer for employment programs. She has a BA with a major in Indigenous Studies and a post baccalaureate diploma in immigration consulting.
